Contrary to popular opinion, the writing section of the SAT is here to stay. In 2015 the College Board is planning a significant overhaul of the math and reading sections of the SAT. However, they intend to keep the writing section because many authorities feel that the writing section is a better predictor of college success than either the reading or math.
Just as many students elect to be tutored for the reading and math portions of the exam, they can prepare for the essay as well. The essay consists of a 25 minute response to a broad question, which can be answered in two different ways. The individual must take a stand and back up his view with facts from literature, science, social students, current events, or personal experience. With practice, students can learn how to attack this task within the time limit and without the stress that often accompanies timed assignments.
